CENTRE NOTIFIES CAUVERY SCHEME IN UNION GAZETTE

According to reports, the Union Water Resources Ministry has sent a letter to Gazette of India to notify the Cauvery scheme, which was submitted by the Centre in the Supreme Court. The apex court had ordered the Centre to notify the scheme before the southwest monsoon.

The notification is the beginning of the implementation of the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal as modified by the Supreme Court. The Tamil Nadu government planned to file a contempt plea in the Supreme Court following the delay in the notification of the scheme.
