In the name of mutton, calf meat has been sold in Chintadripet, Chennai. After receiving a complaint that meat is being sold in an unhygienic manner near Coovum river, a corporation health officer along with a police officer went to investigate. After examining the meat and interrogating with seven men there, they found out that the meat was that of calves. Allegedly, the meat was brought in from other countries and to make it seem like mutton, the meat was chopped into small pieces without bones and sold to briyani shop owners. The 600 kg of investigated meat was later seized.
