IPL 2018: New player retention rules issued

According to the new IPL Governing Council, a franchise will be allowed to retain a maximum of five of their existing players through a combination of player retention before the 2018 auction and the use of right-to-match cards during the auction. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, who will be making their return are allowed to retain three players from the pool of players, who played for them during the 2015 edition. The salary cap for each team for the 2018 season has been set at Rs 80 crore.
