TAMIL NADU YOUNGSTER WINS GOLD IN THE ‘WORLD CUP’ EVENT AT BRAZIL

The 20-year-old Elavenil Valarivan from Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu has won gold representing India in ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation Sport) World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She topped the 10m air rifle category at the World Cup event on August 28 (Wednesday).
Reportedly this is the first World Cup Medal for Elavenil in the senior category. Earlier in 2018, she had won gold in Junior World Cup, Sydney. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) confirmed the news via their official twitter handle

According to the reports, Elavenil shot a score of 251.7 to finish in the first place ahead of her competitors, Seonaid Mcltosh from Britain, Lin Ying-Shin from Chinese Taipei who shot 250.6 and 229.9 respectively.
Elavenil is the third shooter to win Gold representing India in the World Cup event after Anjali Bhagwat and Apurvi Chandela. While Bhagwat won gold in the year of 2003 at Fort Benning, Chandela won two golds at New Delhi and Munish World Cup events earlier this year.
