Shahid Afridi scored 37 ball century for Pakistan against Srilanka in 1996, in his second ODI. This was also the first time he got to bat in the format.

Afridi used Sachin Tendulkar\'s bat for his first 100

Sachin Tendulkar during this time had given his favorite bat to Waqar Younis to take it to Sialkot which is Pakistan's famous sports goods manufacturing capital, to get a custom made one replicated there. Afridi mentioned in his book saying "But guess what Waqar did before he took it to Sialkot? He gave it to me, before I went in to bat. So effectively, that first century in Nairobi by Shahid Afridi was made with Sachin Tendulkar's bat."

During this innings, he smashed 11 sixes and 6 boundaries and said that he was able to hit the SriLankan bowlers for big sixes like he always wanted to.

Although record book said that Afridi was just 16 when he got this 102 off just 40 balls, he has said in his book that he was 19 as he was born in 1975 and not 1980 as it was registered.
