Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has reportedly asked Doordarshan (DD) to lay off 25% of its contractual staff across various centres. Reports say, this move comes as part of an effort to reduce expenditure and manage losses due to falling television rating points. However, Prasar Bharati and DD officials haven’t made an official announcement yet.
