New restrictions on the use of word ‘university’

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has reportedly directed 123 institutions of higher education across the country, which are deemed-to-be universities, to stop using the word ‘university’ in their names. The UGC has warned action against those violating the order and has allowed the mention of the word ‘Deemed to be University’ within parenthesis.
