The Maharashtra government has reportedly increased the excise duty on beer across the state. The state government hiked excise duty on mild and strong beer by 25 percent and 35 percent respectively. The excise duty on mild beer in the state which was earlier Rs 33 per litre has been increased to Rs 42 per litre. The excise duty on strong beer has been increased from Rs 60 to Rs 80 per litre. The prices will vary from brand to brand and the exact prices will be known within a few days.
