Referring to a reply to an RTI query, Mumbai Regional Congress Committee president Sanjay Nirupam alleged that the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s office has spent Rs 3.4 crore on tea consumption during 2017-18. Nirupam was quoted as saying, “Tea worth 3.34 crores has been consumed by the Chief Minister’s office, if we go by this number then 18,591 people have consumed tea at the Chief Minister’s Office in one day. Do so many people visit the Chief Minister’s office in a Day?” Calling it a ‘tea scam’, Nirupam alleged that inflated bills have been produced and demanded an investigation.
