Karnataka: SC order floor test in Assembly tomorrow

In a major blow to BJP in Karnataka, the Supreme Court on Friday ordered the new Chief Minister Yeddyurappa to conduct trust vote in the state assembly house on Saturday at 4 pm. The top court rejected BJP’s request for more time to prove majority. The battle to form the government in the state intensifies with allegations of horse-trading by political parties against each other.

Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the Chief Minister by State Governor Vajubhai Vala at a  ceremony in Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Congress protested the Governor's decision inviting the BJP strongman to form the government and giving 15 days' time to prove majority in the Assembly.

Meanwhile, Congress and JD(S) parties were involved in activities to safeguard their MLAs from poaching. Congress MLAs were taken to Eagleton resort in Mysore Road, where the government revoked police security later.
