Karnataka election: Congress, JD(S) protest in front assembly

The Congress and Janata Dal-Secular lawmakers in Karnataka are staging a dharna in front of the assembly. After the mid-night hearing in Supreme Court, BJP’s Yeddyurappa took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Thursday.

 

BJP emerged as the single largest party in Karnataka with 104 Assembly seats. Congress won 78 seats, while JD(S) won 37 seats. JD(S) also claimed that they have the support of two independent MLAs and an MLA of Bahujan Samaj Party. The Congress and JD(S) alone have 115 lawmakers to their support, which crosses the majority mark of 112.
