Amidst widespread reports that bank accounts need to be linked with Aadhaar, RBI has clarified in a recent reply to an RTI filed by moneylife.in. that it has not yet issued any instruction regarding mandatory linking of bank account with Aadhaar. This reportedly confirms that the reports of mandatory linking of bank account with Aadhaar comes from the central government and not RBI.
