Hundreds of employees in Chennai fired by popular software company

According to reports, software giant Verizon has reportedly fired over 1,000 people from its Chennai and Hyderabad branches. Employees state that over 1,250 employees could have been fired. There has been no official confirmation on this figure. Many sacked employees allege that they were forced to resign while being threatened by security guards. One of them was quoted as saying - “My self-respect was reduced to nothing.” However, the spokesperson for Verizon has claimed that no employee was manhandled and the sacking was part of an internal transformation exercise.
