Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’s cast features a plethora of stars, from Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep to Vijay Sethupathi “There are certain characters in the film which can only be played by stars. Only a star of Amitabh Bachchan’s stature can portray the role of Narasimha Reddy’s mentor. Had the role been played by an actor of lesser star value, the role will not be taken seriously. The same applies to Vijay Sethupathi's character."

But for Rathnavelu, the tricky part of handling a huge star cast is that his team had to finish the shoot in accordance with the actors’ schedules “As a DoP, it made my work stressful. Although I enjoyed working with big stars, the pressure is immense. We were already shooting with huge crowds and action sequences involving horses and all. On the other side, artistes have to leave at a particular time as they have other work commitments. But despite the challenges, the stars were thoroughly professional and accommodative with their dates.”
