League of legends come together for ... - Event Story

This morning was indeed special for 100 odd media aspirants who have enrolled themselves at BOFTA ( Blue Ocean Film and Television Academy) for various diploma courses in the field of filmmaking. As BOFTA held its Inauguration day event by bringing together a league of legendary filmmakers, these young minds were left inspired and captivated. The event began by rendering a floral welcome to all the dignitaries followed by “Tamizh Thai Vazthu”. The guests were further requested to light the lamp to mark the beginning of this bright and energetic academic year of the institute.

With Director Pandiraj and A L Vijay as the special invitees, director Mahendran (HOD - Film making/Direction), director Bhagyaraj (HOD - Screenplay writing), Actor Nasser (HOD- Acting), Editor Lenin (HOD- Editing), cinematographer B.Kannan, director Gnanarajasekaran were all asked to share their experience of association with BOFTA.

Founder director, G. Dhananjayan welcomed the gathering with his welcome note. His words were truly a reflection of his vision and conviction about BOFTA, his brain child.

A L Vijay who was invited to speak first, sounded excited about the idea of BOFTA as one gets the opportunity of learning directly from the masters. He also added that, “Do not fear to commit a mistake. In Fact right and wrong are mere perspectives”

As Nasser took the centre stage he expressed how happy and pressurising this moment is for him. He further thanked actor Shanmugarajan who has worked along to draft the curriculum for the acting course. He promised to create good and responsible human beings out of every student as he feels cinema is just not a profession but it is a way of life.

The interesting part of the event was when editor Lenin demanded that BOFTA should produce a feature film at the end of this academic year with the technicians created by the institute. This definitely is a valuable demand which will narrate the success story of the institution in the best way possible. Pandiraj and Bhagyaraj like always added a humorous touch to their message and gave the audience a break amidst the life changing serious talks. Director Mahendran expressed his satisfaction with the quality of work that Dhananjayan and his team have put across in converting Raviprasad Lab into a well-equipped film institute.

Other ace technicians like Kuttram Kadithal fame editor Prem, director Cable Shankar, director Rajesh Krishna and other core faculties of the institute addressed the gathering with warm welcome notes to the students. The institute is all set to kickstart its classes right from today afternoon (July 1).

The event concluded with a group photograph comprising all the promising faculties of the institute.
