Veteran actor Sathyaraj’s daughter, Divya Sathyaraj who is a nutritionist and an activist has extended her support to the newly elected Trinamool Congress MPs – Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan.
Bengali film stars-turned-All India Trinamool Congress politicians Mimi and Nusrat made their first visit to Parliament as elected leaders and were trolled for their choice of clothes in front of the Parliament. Divya, however, has extended her support to the new MPs and also expressed her interest in politics in an earlier interview.
She stated, “It is about time we as a country stopped telling women what they can and cannot wear, THAT IS THE GREATEST HYPOCRACY OF OUR CULTURE. There are bigger issues that need focus. It was sad to see women being picked on for insignificant things like grammar and clothes. The focus should be on their work as MP’s and not on trivial issues”.
