JUST IN: RAJINIKANTH'S BREAKING STATEMENT ON THE MARINA BEACH BURIAL CONTROVERSY FOR KARUNANIDHI

Today will be seen as one of the most important days in the history of Tamil Nadu. Former Chief Minister Kalaignar M Karunanidhi passed away this evening following severe ill health. 

A lot of celebrities have mourned the loss of the mammoth politician and on the frontline is Superstar Rajinikanth. Recently, he even met Kalaignar's family at a time when his health was deteriorating. 

The issue at hand is the controversy surrounding the place of burial for the late DMK Chief and 5-time CM of Tamil Nadu. The government of TN has not yet granted permission to bury him at Marina beach. 

Following this, Rajinikanth has taken to Twitter to place a personal request to the TN government regarding the same. He said, "மதிப்பிற்குரிய அமரர் கலைஞர் அவர்களுக்கு, அண்ணா சமாதி அருகே அடக்கம் செய்ய, தமிழக அரசு எல்லா முயற்சிகளையும் எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று தாழ்மையுடன் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன். அது தான், நாம் அந்த மாமனிதருக்கு கொடுக்கும் தகுந்த மரியாதை"

This roughly translates to, "I humbly request the government of Tamil Nadu to take all the efforts to bury Kalaignar Karunanidhi near the Anna Samathi. This is the due respect we can pay to that great man."
