WHEN OUR MASS HEROES BROKE THE SHACKLES…

There are a number of traits and characteristics that a mass hero should carry; dying on-screen is definitely not one of them. Of course we have a few instances where big heroes die in films, but mostly it happens when they are playing dual roles.

Do you want to know when was the last time our superstars died on-screen?  Read further.

Rajinikanth - There was this tear jerking scene in Kochadaiiyaan (2014), when the father Rajini gets his head chopped off in the presence of the entire village. If we had to look beyond Kochadaiiyaan, we should go back to the late 1980s flicks like Dharmathin Thalaivan and Athisaya Piravi to see the villains get the better of our ‘Style Samrat’.

Kamal Haasan - If there is one hero who doesn’t care about his mass factor even after churning out commercial blockbusters, it has to be Kamal Haasan. Be it Aalavandhan, Dasavatharam or the most recent Uttama Villain (post-2000 films in which he dies on screen) Kamal just doesn’t shy away from experimenting.

Vijay - Not many could recall Vijay fans mourning for an on-screen demise of their favorite star but Vijay too has taken a few bold steps in films like Villu and Priyamudan.

Ajith Kumar - Among the leading actors, Ajith has probably died on screen on most occasions in the past 20 years, but again apart from Rajavin Parvaiyile, he plays dual roles in all the other films.

Suriya and Vikram too have tried their hands at experimental films, even after attaining box-office glory. Not just dying in films, they literally shed their blood and skin for a film; that’s the commitment level that they possess to satisfy their fans.
