PAPANASAM IS AHEAD OF KANCHANA 2!

Kamal Haasan's Papanasam directed by Jeethu Joseph released on July 3 and was instantly welcomed with wide open arms by all sections of the audience. In Chennai city, the film is estimated to have grossed around 1.34 crores from 273 weekend shows, after the opening weekend and this gross figure compares well with the other big ticket films of 2015.

 

While I, Yennai Arindhaal, Masss and Kaaki Sattai lead the way with the highest opening weekend gross collections in Chennai city, Papanasam comes at No. 5 ahead of Kanchana 2 (1.31 crores from 270 weekend shows) and Anegan (1.28 crores from 276 weekend shows).

 

Papanasam hasn't been given the entertainment tax exemption in Tamil Nadu but the producers are pleased with the reviews and response from the audience. Stay tuned for the Tamil Nadu opening figures.
