Papanasam Editor Ayoob Khan talks about his experience working in the film

Papanasam directed by Jeethu Joseph featuring Kamal Haasan and Gautami in the leads hit the screens on 3rd July to a tremendous response and the audiences are lapping up the film big time.

Ayoob Khan is the editor of the Malayalam original Drishyam and also the Tamil remake Papanasam. Talking to behindwoods on the film and his experience, Ayoob says, “I hail from Alapuzha and have worked with editor Saajan for three years. As I had edited Drishyam, I continued in Papanasam too”.

Editing Drishyam and Papanasam was an experience in itself, Ayoob states and furthers, “Although the film is 180 minutes of duration, people were completely engaged with what was happening on screen. My work was more noticed in the climax which was a dissolved sequence”.

To a poser on some people feeling that the first half of the film was slow, Ayoob says, “It was intentional. We wanted the audience to take their journey with Suyambu’s family and root for their happiness and sorrow. I edited in such a way that people don’t get distracted from the proceedings on screen”.

How does he feel about the response to the film and his work? “I am not able to express my happiness. I am at a loss of words now. This is my first film in Tamil and that too with Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. I am extremely elated”

On doing Tamil films, Ayoob admits that if he gets a good project, he would definitely take them up.

Wishing Ayoob Khan the very best!
