Vikranth explains how he got to play a negative role in Udhayanidhi Stalin's Gethu

Vikranth who made a short but sharp portrayal in Pandianadu will next be seen in Thaakka Thaakka directed by Sanjeev. Meanwhile the actor has also been roped in Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Gethu where he will be essaying a character with grey shades.

Talking about how he got on board Gethu, Vikranth says, “I was playing for CCL in Bangalore when Udhay sir called and said that there is a powerful negative role in his next and wondered if I would be interested in it. He assured that it will not be a dummy role and would have an equal weightage. He asked me to listen to the story and then decide.

I came back and listened to the story from director Thirukumaran. I liked the role. It is not the usual villain per se but a character with negative shades. Director explained that I have to play a role of an expelled official from Indian Navy and that my costumes and body language would be stylish. He also guaranteed that it will be a total make over for me.

I was reluctant. I liked the story but was not sure if it would suit me. I told him that if he had given me a local mechanic role, I would not have second thoughts (laughs).

But Thirukumaran assured and said that if I am ok with a negative role, then I can leave the rest to him. That’s how I got on board Gethu. After the test shoot, I was convinced that I can carry off the role.”

Updating about the progress of the film, Vikranth says, “Seventy percent of the shooting is completed and around 20-25 days are pending which we are planning to shoot in Meghalaya in August. With this schedule the film will be wrapped up. For my part, I have to shoot for around 10-12 days”.

Good luck Vikranth on your new makeover!
