THALA AJITH’S VILLAIN OPENS UP

Thala 56 starring Ajith being directed by Siruthai Siva commenced a few days back. The film has Shruti Haasan as the lady lead and Soori and Lakshmi Menon are also on board. As always, the antagonist in an Ajith's film gets extra special attention and this time around Kabir Singh who made his debut in Telugu film Jil, gets to play the baddie in Thala 56.

In an exclusive chat with behindwoods, Kabir reveals how he came on board and his admiration towards Ajith

How did you enter film industry?

I never wanted to start from Bollywood and always wanted to commence my film journey from the south film industry because in south they respect talent from whatever I know. My first film is Jil in Telugu. When director Radha Krishnan narrated the story, I liked it and started work. In Jil my performance was liked by the audience, who accepted and loved me. I am very happy I got a nice response for the film. And thanks to my God, my parents, I will now be doing Ajith’s film.

How did you get Ajith’s film?

When the trailer of Jil came out, Siva sir and some team members of the film saw my performance and spoke to Jil DoP, appreciating my work. Siva sir approached me with the offer which of course, I could not refuse.

I am very excited about Ajith film. It is my Tamil debut and thanks to Siva who made my wish come true. It was always my dream to act with Ajith sir. I am joining the team from June when my schedule begins at Kolkata.

Dreams

I want to work with Vikram sir, Suriya sir, Vijay sir. Once I am done with Ajith sir’s film, I am sure I will work with all of them.

Have you met Ajith?

No, I am waiting to meet Ajith. It is my dream. I have heard so much about Ajith sir and his humility. I am looking forward to work with him.

What is your role like in Ajith’s film?

I play the villain in the film. I can’t tell much now but all the same very excited to work with the team.

How familiar are you with Tamil?

I watch Tamil films all the time. I watched Vijay’s Kaththi and loved it. It is a big hit. Telugu people have accepted me and I am sure Tamil people also will accept and love me. I am working very hard for Ajith’s film and will give my 200%.

Preparations for the role

I am gymming, working out more, preparing for action sequences and training in Martial arts. I want to perform my own stunts and don’t want body double in the film.

Other projects

I will now be shooting my third film Chaalaki in Kannada featuring Prajwal Devaraj, his 25^th film and I am doing the main negative lead in the film. I have also signed the Telugu remakes of Sundarapandian, Maan Karate and Vishnu Manchu’s film. I am getting calls to feature in Nani and Prabhas’s films too. Things are falling in place now. I am getting offers from Bollywood too, but I am waiting for the right script. If I make one wrong move, then I am finished and hence I am extra careful in choosing my script.
