Hi
Team Behindwoods,
This was one movie which impressed me right from the trailors
and songs(kangal erundal). Wanted to see it desperately, alas
got released in chennai in very less theatres:bane of good
movies!!
Kangal erundal boomeranged crowd to theatres and now many
theatres are screening it!
Positives:
Vintage madurai in 1980s.
Ganja karupu-Lifetime role.
BGM to the fit.
Lead pair's chemistry sans dialogues.
Cinematography.
All characters etched and crafted well.
Broad grin of the hero and eyes(360 degree rotation) of heroine.
The director's acting and directing.
|
|
Negatives:
Gory violence at times.
Too many old movie songs belted out.
Epilogue:
If there are few movies which bring crowds with hit
songs this is one among them.
The very boldness of the director to bring alive the
madurai of 1980s. The lead pairs muted romance parallels
with alaipayudey/mouna ragam.
First time happen to see Ganapathyram's balcony filled.
Great for such low key movie.
Punch dialogues with madurai words like jari, somba doing
the rounds.
I dont have regret for having not seen 1980.
James vasanthan's good debut.
It is rustic love and friendship with all its mud.
