Kaadal
Arangam is a film directed by Velu Prabhakaran.
This film was in the production stage for
a very long time due to various reasons.
Recently when this film was screened for
censor certification, they have cut almost
thirty minutes of the film as it had depicted
frontal nudity in a suggestive tone.
In addition to these cuts, the film
came under severe scanner and was
cut in more than ten different scenes
as they were not appropriate for viewing.
Director Velu Prabhakaran has naturally
objected to this saying that these
scenes are vital for the progress
of the movie. According to him, once
these sequences are cut, the film
will lose its continuity. He has appealed
to the higher tribunal. The story
line of the film goes thus- a girl
from a socially backward caste falls
in love with a rich boy but the relationship
is faced with a stringent opposition
from their families.
Hence
the couple decides to end their lives. Just
before ending their life, the girl is said
to dedicate her body to her lover. Whether
Velu Prabhakaran succeeds in his appeal
to the tribunal will have to be waited and
watched.
