Marriage registration of actress declined |

Mollywood actress Nithya Das has featured
in a few Tamil films like Manadodu oru Mazhaikaalam,
Ponmegalai etc. Cupid has struck this actress
as she fell in love with Arvind Singh from
Kashmir and got married on the 17th. Though
born in Punjab, Arvind Singh is settled in
Kashmir.

As Nithya wanted to register her wedding, the couple approached
the Guruvayur corporation office to complete the necessary
formalities. Having learnt the details about the couple,
the officer-in-charge had reportedly declined to register
their wedding citing the groom’s state of domicile
as the reason. As the groom belongs to Kashmir, their
wedding cannot be registered under the Hindu Marriage
Act. Needless to say, Nithya returned home highly disappointed.
While answering to a query on this issue Mr. Sasidharan
of Guruvayur Corporation stated that as per Hindu marriage
act, marriage of people belonging to Jammu & Kashmir
cannot be registered here but the same can be done there.
