Thank God it’s Friday
By Harish V.
July 20, 2007
Hey, I am back for another round up of this week’s Friday releases. Three new entries are going to grace the theatres, one from each - Tamil, Hindi and English. The English entry this Friday is a laugh riot called Beerfest. The movie is directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, an US-born Indian.
Kreedom
The movie is rated with an ‘A’ certificate as it contains extreme adult and crude humour. People who appreciated the American pie movies or the Scary movie series will love this well-directed movie. Beerfest does contain all the elements that one would expect from this genre of movies.

This week’s Bollywood entry is Salman Khan and Govinda-starrer “Partner”, which is directed by the King of comedy movies David Dhawan. Partner is the Desi version of the Hollywood blockbuster “Hitch”. This movie has an interesting pair-up, as Katrina Kaif is not paired up with Salman but Govinda. Ok. Now the Behindwoods pick of the week, let’s see who takes the Kreedom. Oops, I think I let it out.

Behindwoods pick of the week: Kreedom

This Ajith movie, directed by debutant AL.Vijay, is one of the most talked about movie for at least a month now. After few changes in its release date, it is finally seeing the light of the day. There has been tremendous response from the lucky few who got a sneak preview of Kreedom. The positive buzz is not just about Ajith’s performance but Trisha, Saranya and especially that of Raj Kiran’s. The story is inspired (not a remake) from a 14-year-old Malayalam movie with the same title. The storyline revolves around a father’s dream of seeing his son as an Inspector.

The music by G.V.Prakash is already ruling the charts and the background music is also said to have come out very well. This Adlabs production’s advance booking has been brisk and if all is well, it is all set for a long-run at the box-office.

Overall, this week is definitely a good one, as three movies with varied genres hits the theatres. And all are worth a watch.

My Verdict – Check all three
