| After year
2007 that was lit up first by the brilliance
of Guru and in the latter parts by several
unconfirmed reports of Mani’s next projects
here comes something that seems to be giving
us a ray of hope. We have reported on our
site all the probable moves that Mani Ratnam
might have been making for his next movie.
Those include Lajjo, the much-anticipated
project starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
But Aamir got busy with his home production,
Taare Zameen Par and the Hindi remake of Ghajini
while Kareena has just seen her career take
a turn for the better with some great offers.
Meanwhile there were the reports that nearly
caused a mini flutter in the film industry.
Mani Ratnam going to direct Superstar under
Kamal Haasan’s banner with the Universal
Star making a special appearance. Well,
things never get bigger. But all the excitement
was short-lived as Rajini cleared the air
by dispelling all queries that such a project
was on their minds.
So, after months of uncertainty we have
heard that Mani Ratnam and his creative
team have hit upon something that may materialize
soon into a movie. The setting is a real
life story that happens to form an interesting
knot that Mani and his team are now developing
into a full-fledged script. What is not
known is whether this script will be directed
by Mani himself, or will it be made by his
assistant as the master continues his work
on Lajjo. Let's hope for a positive response
