The audio of Mandhira Punnagai was launched at PVR cinemas on Wednesday, 20th October, 2010. Mandhira Punnagai has been produced by Nagarajan and Karthik Nagarajan for Indhira Pictures. Karu Palaniappan has directed and has also played the lead role in the film. Meenakshi, Ramya and Maheshwari are the three female leads of the movie. The music of Mandhira Punnagai is composed by Vidyasagar.

The audio launch function was attended by a host of celebrities from Kollywood and eminent directors like Hari, Sasi Kumar, Samudirakani and Dharani. There was buzz surrounding the function with smiles and lots of chirpy activities. While director Rama Narayanan released the first CD of the movie, actor Parthiban, along with others, received the first copy.

The trailer of the movie and three songs were played to the audience present in the auditorium. While the trailer looked interesting and evoked a lot of interest among the people present, Vidyasagar's melodies, along with cinematographer Ramnath Shetty, brought magical smiles to the faces. The songs looked very slick and stylish and definitely served as the right appetizer for the movie.

Speaking at the occasion, director Hari highlighted the importance of planning and right promoting techniques. Hari, who usually does not speak much in public functions, had a lot of advice to young and budding directors. "Directors must plan way ahead of the movie's shoot. Planning is essential because it saves a lot of time, money and film rolls. Eventually, it creates an impact on the producer", Hari said. He also requested budding directors to plan meticulously before taking up a project. Taking a reference to Subramaniapuram, Hari said, "Innovative promoting techniques are important to draw crowds to the theatres. Young talent must know ways to promote and market a movie as it will make producers confident. Subramaniapuram is a best example as it created history with just newcomers but had different marketing and promoting techniques". This was acknowledged by Mr. Rama Narayanan and Thyagarajan of Sathyajothi films with loud applauses.

Director Jananathan, of Peranmai fame, saluted Karu Palaniappan on his effort to direct and act in the same movie. He felt that direction itself is such a daunting task and acting adds to the woes. Referring to an example in a scene in Peranmai where there was a disagreement between his assistant and the producer over hiring an elephant for a scene, he said, "Karu Palaniappan has the guts to hire the elephant and also to mount on it. Directing a movie has your mind in tatters and I salute Karu Palaniappan for his stupendous effort".

Actor Parthiban, directors Samudirakani, Dharani, Ezhil and other also spoke.

It was the turn of Karu Palaniappan in the end to address the audience and the press. Speaking about the movie, he said that love does not occur just once in a person's lifetime. When a press reporter asked if love can occur more than once, he shot back by saying "There can be only one love in a person's life. But the question is when does that happen?" Adding to his statement, he said that he still falls in love with interesting women that he comes across in life. "Even my wife may have the same thoughts as mine", he concluded.

Mandhira Punnagai is set for a release in December.
