Following the controversial procession and meeting that was held in Ramanathapuram under the stewardship of Bharathiraja to voice against the genocide of Sri Lankan Tamils, Nadigar Sangam has formally announced the date for its protests in Chennai today. Sarathkumar called on the media to that effect today and declared that a

one-day fast is scheduled to be held on November 1st in Chennai at Nadigar Sangam.

He also mentioned that the protests are held by way of open invitation and no pressures will be on any members of the Sangam to attend the one-day fast. "We have decided not to make it mandatory after deliberations and it is our hope that all the members will extend their full support," Sarath was quoted as saying. He also mentioned that Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan have confirmed their presence.
