Why did Rajini refuse Sridhar?

In a memorial service meeting that was held in the memory of veteran Sridhar who recently passed away, Tamil cinema fondly remembered the director of very many classic films. The meeting, organized by the producer’s council, was held yesterday, November 7, 2008 at 5.00 pm in the Film Chambers. Noted directors including K. Balachander,

Rama Narayanan, lyricist Vairamuthu and Rajinikanth participated in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajini revealed that he was on the verge of declining Sridhar’s offer for the hit flick Ilamai Oonjalaadugiradu. “I decided not to be a part of the film since I thought Kamal’s role in the movie demanded more space,” Rajini mentioned. However, he further added that Sridhar convinced him about his role’s importance. “I didn’t have to think twice after that,” Rajini noted.
