Renigunta finally hit theaters
today after a long tiff with the
censor board. The film tells the
story of five youngsters who are
on the wrong side of the law. There
has been speculation that Renigunta
bears resemblance to the flick ‘City
of God’. This Portuguese film
tells the story of two youngsters
who grow up in a violent locality
of Rio De Janeiro and go separate
ways in life with one of them taking
to crime.
When questioned about this, Renigunta
director Paneerselvam said that
he had indeed watched ‘City
of God’ and liked it very
much, but his movie had nothing
to do with it. Renigunta is completely
original with no inspiration taken
from ‘City of God’ he
averred. |
