Meanwhile a section of the press is not too happy because they were not invited for the wedding. But Sivakumar’s side had a valid counter from a security angle. When the wedding announcement was made by Sivakumar a few days back, the itinerary had the wedding followed by a grand reception at Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Hall. But ensuing events that followed the announcement made Sivakumar alter the plan slightly. This was well supported by the invitation that was released from his side to the press explaining their stance. When security has become the top agenda all over the country, risking lives is unwise. There was also a case of a Malaysian fan who had threatened Sivakumar recently. Considering all these factors, Sivakumar decided to have this kind of wedding after consulting with the top brass of Chennai police.

As Superstar Rajni pointed out some time back, the growth of electronic and print media is phenomenal. Previously when press was invited, it would only mean a couple of journalists. Now it is not the case. Television channels are many and so are newspapers and portals. When one is invited, it would be rude to ignore the other. There is also a list of celebrities who have been conspicuous by their absence like Cheeyan Vikram, Simbu to name a few. But it is difficult to conclude on anything unless one has a thorough knowledge on these things.

But all the same Sivakumar has organized for a lunch with the press today with the newly wed couple at Four Frame preview theatres, Nungambakkam. The hall with a seating capacity of 450-500 persons was filled to the brim with photographers, videographers and press people. In fact the photo hungry and the news hungry press totally blocked the view for their friends. There was commotion to capture the best looking couple in the industry. Sivakumar pointed out that it is because of this reason that he had spaced out the wedding invitation. The wedding had taken place in a hall with a capacity of 500. If press was also invited for the same, security of politicians and stars would have taken a beating. Later Sivakumar thanked the media who have honoured his lunch invitation and helped in the growth of his son Surya.
