At a middle school in Nanyang, Henan Province of China, students were made to watch as a teacher smashes their phones with a hammer and drowns them in a bucket of water. The video of the incident is going viral on social media in China. A school employee reportedly said students must voluntarily hand over their phones to teachers upon arrival in class, or face the consequences. “The point is to make students concentrate on their studies”, the employee reportedly said, adding parents support the school’s no phone policy.
