Student-activist Valarmathi of Salem Periyar University, who was detained under Goondas Act and later released by High Court, is set to continue her studies as the varsity has cancelled her suspension. The 23-year-old is studying in her final year of Masters in Journalism. After the court ordered her release, Valarmathi reportedly said she will continue her fight despite the State and Central governments’ attempts to curb free speech and quell democratic protests.
