An MTC bus from Avadi to Broadway ran over two engineering students in Thirumalaivoyil and hit a TASMAC shop in Chennai-Thiruvallur high road on Monday. Reportedly, the bus driver lost control of the speed and hit two pedestrians unable to stop the bus. Yashwanth succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital, and his friend Jagan is undergoing treatment in a government hospital. According to media reports, the driver claimed that the brake was not working and to avoid hitting the vehicles and pedestrians on the road; he tried to halt the bus by ramping into the shop. The police have arrested the driver and filed a case.
