Reportedly customs officials on Saturday seized gold Rs. 20 lakhs, weighing 698 grams from a man in Chennai International airport. According to media reports, a laptop adapter in his baggage was concealed with gold bits. Recently large amounts of gold have been seized by the airport officials. Smuggling of gold from Singapore, UAE, and Malaysia has become more frequent because of the air connection between these countries and Chennai.
