Madras HC stays Centre's animal slaughter rules

Hearing a Public Interest Litigation filed by S Selvagomathy, an activist-cum-lawyer, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Tuesday reportedly ordered a stay on Centre’s ban on sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets. The Centre notified the statutory rules on May 23 banning the sale of cattle for slaughter in animal markets.
