UN Development Programme on Tuesday released the ranking for 2016 Human Development Index. According to this, India has been ranked 131st among 188 countries. India ranks third among the South Asian countries. However, India is placed in the bottom five pool when it comes to gender parity. Human Development Index is calculated based on the life expectancy, access to knowledge and standard of living.
