The Madras High Court has reportedly asked the Government authorities not to open Tasmac near the residential areas. The HC also asked the police department not to arrest any people who protest peacefully for the ban of liquor shops. The statement came after appeals were filed in the Madras High Court asking to relocate liquor shops which have been closed after the Supreme Court’s order. Notably, on March 31, Supreme Court had banned the sale of alcohol within a 500m radius of state and national highways.
