The PM Modi led central government on Friday informed the Supreme Court it wouldn’t be able to complete the extradition of liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who owes over Rs 9,000 crore to banks, before January 2018. The government’s response comes amid SC stand that it could not sentence Mallya in a contempt of court case in his absence. Notably, Mallya had fled to the UK in March 2016.
