The
Marathi film Mi Shivajiraje Bhosale
Boltoy has shattered the box office
record by garnering Rs. 1.5 crores
in one week. The film opened to
packed houses on April 3rd in about
139 screens across Maharashtra.
According to the film’s producer
Sanjay Chhabria of Everest Entertainment,
“We knew we had a fantastic
movie in our hands but the nature
of mass hysteria around the release
has been overwhelming. Marathi films
usually pick up through word of
mouth and don’t enjoy instantaneous
success and the incredible opening
that this film has received. This
kind of response is a huge bolster
for the future of Marathi cinema”
Mi Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy is
the first hit for the year 2009
and is far ahead of several Hindi
films released this year. The film
is directed by Santosh Manjrekar
and stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin
Khedekar, Suchitra Bandekar, Priya
Bapat, Abhijit Kelkar, Siddharth
Jadhav and Bharat Dhabolkar.
