Mallika Sherawat received a rare honor on the eve of the Indian Independence at the Los Angeles City Hall at 10 am when the actress was bestowed upon with an honorary citizenship, career recognition and official Resolution. This is a rare distinction that Hollywood has conferred upon an Indian actress.

Speaking at the event, Mallika said, “As the first Indian Bollywood actor to receive this Recognition, I proudly accept it in honor of my home country, mother India, and my beloved Bollywood, the world's largest film industry. May our two countries continue their special friendship, and our two film industries Bollywood and Hollywood continue this new wave of collaboration, and make great art and entertainment, throughout the world, and for all peoples.”

The event was well attended by Mallika’s friends, family, fans and the film fraternity.
