Chennai Times quoted a source as saying, “There are over 300 monkeys that keep loitering in and around the Hanuman Temple, near Pudukkottai medical college. They struggle to get water to drink and fruits and food to eat now because of the pandemic-induced lockdown. The place is surrounded by forest and the harsh summer isn’t helping them either. So, in a bid to provide them with a permanent solution, Pudukkottai’s Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has built a new water tank. Water will be filled in the tank on a regular basis so that monkeys don’t go thirsty.”

They further added, “They have also made arrangements to supply them with bananas and other fruits. A special pooja for Lord Hanuman was done on the day of the inauguration of the water tank. The event was attended by members of the Makkal Iyakkam, who followed all pandemic protocols.”
