IS RAJAMOULI GOING TO WORK IN HOLLYWOOD?

Baahubali director SS Rajamouli was involved in a live Facebook chat conducted by the BBC. We bring some of the interactions.

Would you make a Hollywood film?
I don’t know. I would love to make Indian cinema, Indian stories for the world to see. Hollywood is a different ball game. Doors have to be open from that side, even if the doors were to open, I have my reservations. I want to take my stories and not those stories because I am well versed with my stories.

Baahubali is on the scale of Lord of the Rings. Coming to censorship, the film does have violent moments. Do you think you need to tone down in India to avoid getting caught in censorship struggles?
In India, the various epics have violence in them and such stories have shaped many generations and they are the lifelines of India. I don’t think any filmmaker, including me, would tone down the violence keeping the censorship in mind. Mindless violence should definitely be avoided. There should be a proper justification of violence.
