‘‘I CELEBRATED MY FIRST PONGAL WHEN THIRUPACHI GOT RELEASED’’ - PERARASU

Perarasu who is known for directing commercial pot-boilers like Thirupachi, Sivakasi, and Thirupathi, got a little emotional while speaking at an audio release function recently. He shared stories about his struggles before becoming a film director.

“Every successful director today had to go through a struggling phase once. Victory does not come instantly. Only in cinema field, people lose their adulthood to gain some fame. Since the day I became an assistant director, I never celebrated Diwali, Pongal or any other function till the date I became a director.

I don’t even go to my native place as they make fun of me for not gaining fame in cinema. Even if my sister is getting married, I only go on the day of marriage and leave immediately after the wedding. I celebrated my first Pongal only when my 1st film Thirupachi got released. Similarly, my first Diwali celebration was when Sivakasi released.” - Perarasu
