Here’s wishing Kaviperarasu a happy 60

Jul 13, 2013

Vairamuthu, one of Tamil cinema’s finest lyricists turns 60 today. The fact that his granddaughter and the child of Kabilan Vairamuthu is also turning one today should be very special for the veteran.

Having started his career as a lyricist in 1980, Vairamuthu has penned over 5000 songs in Tamil. He has also won several awards including seven National Awards, six State Awards, Kalaimamani Award and Padmashri from the central Government.

He has also authored a number of books and many of his works have been translated into other languages. His collaboration with Mani Ratnam, AR Rahman and Ilayaraja (in the early part of his career) are the most celebrated unions.

Both the heirs of Vairamuthu, Madhan Karky and Kabilan Vairamuthu, also lyricists have created niches for themselves in the industry.

We wish the legend a very happy birthday and very long life!
