It will primarily focus in the victory of the 1983 World Cup. The movie is a bopic on Kapil Dev and how he drove the Indian cricket team to the ultimate victory. Ranveer Singh is cast as Kapil Dev. The actor has already started their training to fit into the role.

Now it is confirmed that Chirag Patil who is the son of Sandip Patil will appear as his father. Sandip patil is a well-known middle-order batsman who played the 1983 World Cup. Chirag Patil has already acted in Hindi and Marathi movies. “I don’t think any actor has ever played his own father before. I’m the first”, he said with pride.

He also added,”It will be fun lifting the world cup for the country again.” The movie titled as ‘83 also stars Tamil hero Jiiva in the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth. It must be noted that Nawazuddin Siddiqui who acted in Petta is also part of the cast.
