Kabilan Vairamuthu talks about his work in Kalam

Kalam is an upcoming period horror film which had its audio composed by Maalai Mangum Neram fame Prakash Nikki launched yesterday, the 8th April. Kabilan Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics for two songs in this Robert Raaj directorial. Talking about his experience while writing for this unique subject, Kabilan shared few interesting tidbits with us.

“One among the two songs that I have penned is in the point of view of a haunted house. it was the director's idea to do so and it was my suggestion to give it a two dimension.  For those who see the song on screen, it would sound to be the voice of the house. And for other listeners it stands as a girl’s painful wait for her love. The lyrics have been written in such a way that the audience and listeners can arrive at different interpretations.”

“Araigal Ovvondraai naan thiranthida - Velicham vavvaalaai surungida”,
“Jannal moodi Mounam Kooti Mezhugai Kolithidu Magizhven”,
“mana koodathin oodey  goluvaai nuzhainthaaye” are a few lines from the haunted melody.

“The other song also has a small background. It is a romantic number where the music director and myself planned to make a song similar to that  of the 1990's Rahman-Appa (Vairamuthu) style, in terms of the tune, the arrangements, the word usage etc. But what we attained was a fusion of present and the past both with respect to the music and lyrics. It was a beautiful experience working in this album” proclaimed Kabilan before signing off.

We wish this team a successful journey!
