Distributor Selvakumar threatens to commit suicide for Kabali loss

Superstar Rajinikanth's Kabali, produced by Kalaipuli S.Thanu,  was one of the most important films of 2016. A controversy has now surrounded the film, as a distributor of the movie has requested Thanu to give him money, to repay his financiers.

Selvakumar, who is one of the distributors of the film, met the press and media this morning, to share his problems. He said, "I am Selvakumar, I distributed Kabali, in South Arcot and Pondicherry regions.

I have been in serious financial trouble for the past 20 months. I had borrowed money for distributing the film, from financiers, but, I didn't get back the amount that I had put. So, I requested Thanu sir to pay me back, so that I can return that amount to my financiers. Thanu sir, my godfather might have helped me before, in many occasions, but this time, he has been saying that he will give me the money, but he has been delaying for the reasons, I am not aware of.

The financiers have been constantly asking me why am I not paying them back. They have put a full stop to my life, and my life is in danger. I had sold my wife's chain and repaid a particular amount. With all these pressure, I have come to a decision now, to end my life. I have made up my mind to commit suicide, as I have no answer left with me. I am at the biggest danger of my life, and if my death will only be the answer for that, I am ready to commit suicide.

Thanu sir has been telling me that he will pay me, and I believe him. But the people, who gave money to me are not believing me. If Thanu sir gives me the money, I will settle it back to my financiers and run away. Please.

The total theatre share I received from the collections is Rs. 2.77 crore. I bought the film for Rs 5.5 crore. My loss is around Rs 2.8 crore, which I couldn't get from the collections. Thanu sir promised to give Rs 1.5 crore, that I had spent, excluding the interest rates. At least if he gives me that amount, I will pay back the remaining amount somehow. I am helpless now."

Selvakumar also added that Superstar Rajinikanth doesn't have any connection with any of this issue, and he needs to go to the star and explain him all the problems.
