BEHINDWOODS EXCLUSIVE: ABBAS REVEALS WHY HE QUIT ACTING

He spoke about the audition he underwent for Kathir’s Kadhal Desam. “I couldn’t even speak Tamil properly then. The audition happened at YMCA grounds, Nandanam. When everything was fine, they asked me to sign a contract. I said I am underage. You have to meet my mother. We went to Bangalore to meet my mother. She was seeing me after two years. I had ran away from home. She was like, Oh, you are still alive.”

He also spoke about the times spent shooting Padayappa with Rajinikanth. “He used to smoke on the sets. I used to be a chain smoker as well. He said, let’s smoke together. I didn’t want to smoke in front of him. I was worried about what the public will think. He then lit me my cigarette and said, c’mon, let’s smoke. I was a bit relieved post that.”

He also recollected wonderful times spent with Madhavan while filming Minnale and wished for a part two.

In the same interview, he spoke about why he left acting and said that things got boring post a while and he felt he wouldn’t do justice to his acting if his heart wasn’t in it. Abbas also didn’t write off a comeback.
